Two weeks before the opening the furniture is being fixed in the rooms. The furniture, like everything else, is made of a range of good-quality woods – either oak, or okoume, or Douglas fir. The lighting system is also being tested, and the sublimity of the light is on display for the first time; the bathroom surfaces particularly, made of cementitious-resinous render, glow with subtle warmness in the light that oozes out from behind the gypsum false ceiling. The property is a hum of activity, and the cleaners have already begun to clean those rooms and corridors that are virtually completed.
